SDI sky+ with 42" pwd8 help

Hi guys.... I need some help with the above.

Firstly, how good is an SDI modded sky pic to an PWD8 panel compared to a HD sky pic to a HD panel ?

Is it worth doing the SDI upgrade, what does it entail and how much does it cost ?........ my father used to repair/tinker with his TV's years ago so I would possibly give the job to him to do the soldering..... any advice please.

If you are connecting via HDMI then go with Sky HD. The mod is a soldering skills test and the improvement in SD channels 576i over 576p is nothing to write home about through my VP. Any HD channel is far better than the best SD source and the digital connection can be too honest for the lesser channels.

The advantages remain with SDI that there is no HDCP to contend with and you are getting 576i fed to your VP without making it do EDID tricks. SDI can do much longer cable runs than HDMI/DVI too and as a 'broadcasting' format I'm speculating that it may interface with 'pro' video kit easier too.
