lumagen softening picture on 768 panasonic plasma?

Hello,

I thought i would drop a little message on this board as I've believe that my lumagen (so wonderfully set up by gordon - thanks again!! i'm still struggling to even start understanding how it all works!! ) softens the picture on my xbox360.

Has anyone else noticed this? I'm running the xbox on a panasonic th50ph9 with the lumagen component inputs ( xbox outputting 720p) and the lumagen converting it to 768.

I thought that maybe it was the processing of 720 to 768, but when putting my lumagen to output in 720p i can't tell the difference and it still looks soft a bit soft, and the colors a little les vibrant or contrasted. I might perhaps want a slightly more contrasted image... though not sure how i would go about doing a good job of changing it.

The detail is great though and HD is clearly a major very nice step up (though I have to say that having watched a couple blue rays - blood diamond and ghostrider, the lumagen does a heck of a job in enhancing regular 576 dvd's!!)

anyway to make a long story short, does anyone have an answer to the video processor softening the image?

thanks,

O.

Re: lumagen softening picture on 768 panasonic plasma?

Can you set the Lumagen pass the signal through with no processing?

Don't have time to answer this right now. Will say you can only do passthrough if you have same input and output res on Lumagen.
