Can't make Sky HD output over HDMI to VP50Pro
Ok, I've got a strange one. I've spent the evening setting up my new PF10 - well, building a frame to strengthen the wall, very nearly dropping it when putting the panel into the mount etc.. Now, all seems to work fine, but I can't get the Sky HD box to output anything to the VP50Pro. Connected directly to the panel it works fine, but the VP50Pro sees nothing.
With my old panel, I used component rather than HDMI, so this is the first time I've tried to use the HDMI output.
Anyone got any tips or tricks - power on sequence, resets required etc.?

Re: Can't make Sky HD output over HDMI to VP50Pro
Scalers can be grief - gotta make small steps.
Don't worry about what you CAN'T do - look at what you CAN do.
First thing is to get the scaler interfacing with the display. Can you you see the menu from the scaler?
Second thing is to get the scaler working with SOMETHING, anything. Start with composite and move up. Have you got a DVD player working through the VP50?
Need more information, Nick

Sorry - should have been more specific. Everything else was working (other HDMI, Component etc.) and output's fine - it was just the HD box. After much dicking around, it just started working - no real idea, and I don't think it was a different sequence, but it seemed to need, the scaler configured and on, the Sky power powered off at the mains, and then connect the Sky box. I guess it's reading the EDID when connected and not getting anything from the Scaler - bit of a chcken and egg.... Anyway, working now Thanks anyway.

Sometimes you just need to switch the source on after the scaler, or something like that.
I'm intruiged about Sky HD plus VP50Pro. How does that look compared to a direct fed to the display? I would have high hopes for that combo.

Huge improvement - PREP makes a big difference, and the scaling is of course a vast improvement. For a while last night, I had the HD connected directly to the display (whilst trying to work this out), and to be honest, the image was horrible - instant complaint from the wife about PQ on Strictly. However, the PF10 does have pretty basic scaling etc. compared to consumer panels, so with something like the PZ70B, the difference would probably be less marked.
