Lumagen HDP - Which inputs ?

Thanks to Gordon ( )I will have a working HDP by the end of the day and will be selling on my HD3000.

When I last had a Lumagen I only had 2 HDMI equipped devices. I now have SKY-HD, and HD-DVD (Tosh E1) and a PS3

As I only have 2 digital inputs I'm trying to work out optimum connectivity in my head. Given the HDP forces 576i out of the Sky box I'm assuming poorer SD PQ will benefit most from a digital connection into the HDP. I'm not sure what to do with the other 2. The HD-DVD only outputs 1080/60 whilst the PS3 will do 1080/24. The E1 outputs 576i over HDMI so I use that for SD-DVD's

I'm not too bothered about the plasma as its mainly just bog standard TV (Video) viewing. My HD-1 accepts 1080/24. I can also bypass the HDP using an HDMI switch if I need to with the PS3, so could just output 1080/24 straight into the PJ.

I then need to get my head around multiple input/output auto switching

Any suggestions please ?

I'd put the Sky box in with component for a nice and easy life!! Sometimes you've just got to compromise and not have HDMI for everything.

Re: Lumagen HDP - Which inputs ?

I have an toshiba ax1 one on the way and am considering the options for set up on the on the HDP with - DVD, HD DVD and Sky HD.

Component out of the DVD seems faourable as a simple solution but I am leaning towards an HDMI switch box for the 2 dvd plays and using mem A for one and mem B for the other.

Toshiba AX1 looks very good via component.

Re: Lumagen HDP - Which inputs ?

The tricky thing is finding a switch that allows 576i to go through from the HD-DVD player (I highly doubt you will find one that will allow EDID handshaking to force 576i from Sky HD though).

But if you were to take PS3 (1080p24) and HD-DVD (1080i60 and 576i50) and put these through a switch into the Lumagen, the Lumagen will load different crop, colour, grayscale settings etc based on the different input resolutions without needing to manually flick over to another memory. At least for films anyway, for gaming when you might get 1080i60 from the PS3 you can either use the same settings as for the HD-DVD or you can then choose to use different memories.

Me, I got a Radiance and filled all 6 of the HDMI inputs instead (Arcam DV139, Tosh HD-E1, PS3, Snazio, Sky HD, MAC)! And with the Radiance you get 480/576/720p50/720p60/1080i50/1080i60/1080p24/1080p60 settings all per input memory! (i.e. it takes into account refresh rate as well as line resolution).
