HDP/HDQ with SD Analogue CRT?

I'm waiting for the PHD9 50" to come out (Yes, yes, I know all the arguements about waiting for the next best thing - I just want it).

I am planning to use a lumagen HDP/HDQ as the VP to this screen. In the meantime, would I see any substantial benefits using the lumagen with my existing 28" un-flat, widescreen CRT (Via an analogue source) in SD?

The final aim is of course HDTV via digital...

Should I wait? I'm really bad at that, my wallet is already beginning to tickle me up

Cheers //miceri

Although its an appealing concept (akin to sticking a Ferrari engine in a Mini ), unless your widescreen CRT can take 576p component, I don't think it'd handle it. The lowest resolution the Lumagen deinterlacer will output is 480p/576p (component or DVI).

Anyway, since on Panasonic's past performance you may be waiting until October/November for volumes of 50HD9 displays, you may be within a couple of months of the Lumagen Radiance launch... So then you could wait for the next big thing , in the meantime there may be an offer on the HDQ or discounts to make room prior to the Radiance. It'd make sense to get the HDQ when you need it rather than have it sitting there in its box.

If the TV can accept 576P then it might be worth doing. I did one to a projector and a chaps TV using the analogue out set to component to the TV and it looked pretty cool once Id finished.

Wise words, spoken like a true bank manager

The TV is fairly naff, SCART input only, limited user interface, so slim chance of manipulating to any degree.

Nope, I must wait for Panasonic to take their thumb out of their a*s first .
