Lumagen to AV Amp Connection

I see from the diagram on the DVDO site that all video sources should be connected to the HDP foe example. Yep, understand that.

HDP to Screen - Yup got that too

HDP to AV Amp - Why? I thought that you should separately then connect all audio source outputs to the AV amp. Thus letting the HDP process video, and the AV Amp process audio.

Is this connection setup the same as how I should wire the lumagen products?...

Have I got this wrong? I'm looking into the cable setup of running a HDP and don't want to replicate cabling if possible.

Cheers all //miceri

Your drawing for DVDo would result in no sound with Lumagen.
Lumagen have no audio routing capabilities. For optimum audio and video with Lumagen you should route video to scaler and audio direct to amplifier.

Thats exactly what I though. But the DVDO picture has it connected to the amp.

I want to route all audio source directly to the amp. Should the lumagen be connected to the amp at all?

No, the DVDO is capable of routing audio, Lumagens are not. As Gordon said, route audio direct to the Amp.

Perfect, the answer I wanted to hear - Thanks guys!

I'm now off to read the setup guide from the lumagen forum. I'm hoping to understand which cables to use for best effects (RGB / SCART / HDMI etc) so that I don' fork out on HDMI for AV Amp switching, and then later find that this is not the best solution...

Reason is that I will buy my intial setup of screen, amp, speakers, etc now. But for budget reasons the video processor later this autumn.

And so, the lumgens can't manage the delay between video and audio

Good point, presumably the Amp will need audio delay adjustment capablities.

If the lumagen doesn't offer audio support and the DVDO does, would it be better for me to user that. Note that I am a complete novice in this arena Any advice would be welcome.

The list of components that I am thinking of connecting is as follows:

Panasonic TH-42PX600
Denon AVR4306/3806/Yamaha RX-V2600
Pioneer DVDR-520H
Satellite/Cable HDTV (NOT Sky+ - I live in Sweden...)
Playstation2
Musical Fidelity A3.5/Primare I30
Arcam CD73
Monitor Audio GS20
Monitor Audio GS-LCR
REL Strata 5

(See attached)

How would I connect the transmission source (i.e. wall socket at present) so that it utilises both the analogue and digital tuners in the TV (Also the analogue tuner in the DVDR) in conjustion with the VP unit.

No your AV Amp will handle audio for you. It will even give you a different amount of delay for each input, and means you don't have to be passing all your audio signals through the same box.
