They may improve the picture slightly but you would be better off with a second hand DVDO HD which can be found on the classifieds regularly for about £300.

You might be buying something that offers no more processing power than that in the screen already!!! Second hand market for older processors is great place to look if you just want to beef up Freeview a bit. Older iScan (even ultra) or original Lumagen Vision would be where I'd look.

Progressive Line Doubler

The DVDO iScan Pro is the third version of the highly regarded iScan PureProgressive scan converter. Several significant changes have been made in the iScan Pro. The most exciting addition is the component video inputs not available on earlier iScan models. The component input eliminates the need for the video decoder chip to demodulate the color on the s-video signal which typically results in some loss of color detail and accuracy. The new iScan Pro uses a different video decoder chip (Philips SAA7118E) than was used in the earlier iScan units. The Philips video decoder utilizes 9-bit A/D converters instead of the 8-bit A/D converters found in the Samsung KS0127B chip used in the original

iScan Pro is very old, and I think using slightly older SiI503 chipset. Still a good deinterlacer nonetheless, not worth a great deal of money second hand I wouldn't have thought. Would probably be more worthwhile getting bargain iScan Ultra or iScan HD original. If the HD can be had for £300 that's gotta put the 2nd hand value of a Pro way down
