VP30 into 504HDE VGA 1:1 @ 75Hz

This has been discussed on a few occassions in the past, but I am now in a position to test this for myself having just got hold of a VGA>RGBHV cable.

Points to note -

I believe I have 1:1 pixel mapping (checked with the VP30's horizontal and vertical test patterns, having let the Pioneer "auto-adjust" itself to the input).

Using the "judder" test pattern, I can see clear "tearing" of the vertical bar (in two places) if I have the output framerate set at 50Hz lock - interestingly the Pioneer reports the framerate to be 56Hz (this has been alluded to in previous posts).

However, if I set the output framerate to be 75Hz, then there is no "tearing" of the bar in the judder test pattern and the Pioneer reports the framerate to be 75Hz.

Can anyone suggest a way that I can demonstrate to myself that this set-up causes problems?

For film sourced stuff if should be okay (i.e. the image will go from 50i -> deinterlaced to 25p -> repeated three times to 75p) however for video sourced stuff it'll be 50i -> 50p -> 75p so I'm guessing some stuttering like you get with NTSC film sourced stuff.

I tried it for a bit on my CRT but the effect was a little fatiguing on my eyes however if it's just for movies you should be okay, if you could reach 100Hz it'd be excellent for both!
