DVDO HD+ VGA Picture Problem

I have connected my DVDO HD+ to my Samsung TV via DVI and it works fine.
However, I thought I would have a look at connecting them VGA to VGA and can't get a picture. I have made sure the HD+ is set to analogue output and the Samsung to PC input, tried all the output format options on the HD+ (Scrolling through them and selecting them that way) but can't get a picture.

I haven't changed any other settings so that may be my problem.

Any comments on what I should try would be much appreciated or do you need more info?

Regards
Martin

Are you outputting a resolution that is allowed on the VGA port?

Steve, that's the problem, I have tried every pre-set output resolution on the HD+. The only thing that I haven't tried is any custom resolutions. But, how do I set a custom output resolution?

I am just downloading the Samsung Manual and will post the accepted resolutions.

Are you trying to display the output from a device that is connected to the Iscan via HDMI? If so then it would be an HDCP issue.

If not, have you tried changing the output signal to be progressive i.e. 720p you may also need to try changing the colour space for the Iscan to RGB and the panel to be RGB.

Steve, I have sky+ and a DVD Player attatched by component only, no HDMI.

I have tried 720p but I haven't tried changing the colourspace yet, I'll try that tonight.

Attached is the Samsung accepted PC connection resolutions. May have to look at the sync polarity settings as well?

I'll post further when I get home from work.

Many thanks Steve

Martin,

This was previously posted by HornyDragon:

see here, are you using H&V sync?
Also are you feedng the HD 720p from DVD or 576i/480i make sure the DVD player is set to interlaced output

It could be the H&V syncs.

Steve, I think you are on the right lines with the H&V syncs as it says adjust these in the manual RTFM seems appropriate . I'll give it a try when I get home about 5.30. The output on the DVD player is interlaced (AFAIK this model is not progressive anyway.)

I'll post results on H&V sync after I have played about with it.

Thanks for the pointers Steve.

Kindest regards.

Well, managerd to get a picture by messing with H/V sync settings but now have a problem with picture judder. Can't seem to find a setting at 50hz that works.

I think this will be a case of trial and error.

Will post finding as soon as I sort it.

Hello ashworthacca

According to the table you link to you only have one Option (800x600) if your going in to your RGBHV (VGA) port at 50Hz.

Best regards

Joe

Right I have settled on 1024X768 H+/V+ at 60hz. Slight judder on the ticker tape on sky sports but seems a better picture than I got from DVI at 720p.
I don't understand why or whether it's my eyes not adjusted to the new settings. Should it be better? Any views on this?

Also, I tried all settings and couldn't get a picture at 50hz, even 800x600. Will keep trying though.

Many thanks Steve and Joe for you help, it is much appreciated.

Update, after messing with the settings fro the last few days I can't get a signal at 50HZ therefore I am stuck with the slight judder problem.

However, I have got it working at 1366x768 H+/V+ at 50Hz unlocked 59.92 Hz and the picture quality is superb but the judder is bloody annoying.

Is it just my TV that won't accept 50HZ Locked? Are there any LCD TV's that do?

Regards
Martin

Great to hear that you got it working Martin.

I wonder why it will still ony accept a frame rate of 60Hz an not 50?
