vga -> component

I want to convert the SVGA output from a pc to componemt (YUV) so it can be switched via my denon amp and does not require a second cable run to the plasma screen.

Quality isn't really an issue for what I want,

I can find a couple converters in USA which do this for around $100 which would be ideal.

anybody know of a uk site selling something like this?

Hi,

Why not just get a VGA->Component cable?

I don't think cable is enough. I have VGA-component cable and it doesn't seem to work with my laptop and plasma screen.

Hello Mouth on Legs

I'd normally suggest Corioscan for a low cost PC to Video conversion solution but the models that offer you YUV are way more than 100.00 USD.

The entry level products all do Composite, S-Video and RGB PAL Out - its only the mid range (250.00 GBP+) units that do YUV Out.

Best regards

Joe

the pc VGA does not output a YUV compatable signal

I think this is the converter I need, but can't find a UK site

http://www.digitalconnection.com/pro...video/9a60.asp

I am a bit supprised I would have thought this would be an obvious thing to do, makes the switching easy (one knob on denon amp switches signal and sound, very WI-FE compatble (-_-)

Hello Mouth on Legs

It may make switching easy but it doesn't make for decent image quality - you said in your first Post that 'Quality isn't really an issue for what I want' which is handy because its definitely not going to look too hot!!!

A New Graphics card with YPbPr Out is more likely the best option.

Best regards

Joe

thank you for that, however I am struggling to find a suitable card, can you suggest any. it does not have to be state of the art, I am only using it for playing avi files and pictures, and itunes, no gaming or massive graphic processing required

Most of the ATI Radeon cards have an optional component out adapter (and support for 720p, 1080i native) - the 9800 certainly does have along with I think the 9600 (which can be had without a fan to make it silent)
