Question Sony Projector/Scaler question

Sincere apologies for posting this in 2 forums but it is HCC feedback as well as a scaler question:

The review in HCC of the Barco Cine 7 pointed out that a scaler is required for best results. No such comment was made in the HCC review of the similarly priced CRT projector - the Sony VPH-D50QM. Is this because the Sony doesn't need a scaler or is it just an oversight in the Sony review?

Thanks in advance

Probably just an oversight. The comment about scalers was slightly misleading if they were talking about all CRT projectors.

Some, not all CRT projectors can benefit from being used in conjunction with a scaler. The Barco and Sony can both be bought with or without on board de-interlacers(doublers). The Barco also has the option of an internal tripler I think.

Scalers do the de-interlacing followed by the scaling of the image to a different output resolution from what came in.

Hope this is of some use.
