Post The Rock - Import Price and Taxes

All,

I can confirm that I have been charged 4.5% Import Tax (which is MUCH lower than I estimated - I was prepared for 15%).

On top of that comes the 17.5% VAT.

This gives me a UK Rock price of around:
£2020 ($ to £) * 1.045 Import = £2192
£2191 * 1.175 VAT = Final Price £2575

Saving me some £425 that I had overestimated! Time me thinks to buy some more DVDs or some expensive cables!

Regards Neil.
p.s. Its cleared Customs and will be with me tomorrow AM.

Jenz,
Get a grip! Surely you can calibrate the projector yourself well enough to get a (near) perfect display?! You've let me down - I thought you were well into that side of things!?

You're not telling me that you will be waiting until Monday for a proper demo? I can't wait that long - your faithful public require, no, demand a preliminary post no later than 2 hours after the Rock arrives, no ifs or buts! I refuse to be kept in suspense until Monday. Come on, admit it you're just a tease!!

HTPC up and running - in the bedroom. Barco in sitting room. Hopeful for a fruitful union at the weekend!

By the way, well done on the price - I too thought it might come in closer to £3k. Bonus!
Paul

I'm going to have a lot of fun for sure, but this guy is really professional.

Its a case of I get it to 80% which is stunning. He gets it to 110% which is outrageous.

Talking

Is this the Criterion edition of The Rock?

If so, I know lots of people who have got it much much cheaper than you mate.

:D

Jenz,
You're right of course, squeezing that extra few percent out of any system can sometimes make all the difference!

I'll maybe make use of young Mr.Fraser once he's ISF'd to do the biz in a few months time.

Ono, good one! Had a laugh at that - I'm sure many people genuinely make that mistake and wonder why someone is buying a £2500 DVD!
All the best,
Paul

Neil

Your duty of 4.5% was pretty low considering all the categories that they had to choose from, BUT, I think you should complain! According to the C&E website computers do not attract ANY duty. Here's the link www.hmce.gov.uk/bus/regions/dutyrate.htm#Computers

Cool

Gary,

I'm not saying a word because it had Video Test Equipment on the box which is why 4.5%.

Regards Neil.
