Re: Toshiba Product Launch 2009

I have tried to sync this video podcast with my iPhone several times and keep getting the message that it will not be synced as it cannot be played on my iPhone.

Any ideas?

What is the exact procedure you followed? I will try to replicate it.

I get the same. The Bristol Show video podcasts work fine. Others I've tried (65VX100 review, Panny launch and this one) all fail. Shame as catching up with these on the train is great.

According to Super(c) the encoding is quite different on the two. These are things which I'm not sure matter or not...

Toshiba;
AVC Format Profile: Main L1.3
res: 368x208
Audio sampling: 44.1KHz

Bristol Show;
AVC Format Profile: Baseline L3.0
res: 640x360
Audio sampling: 48KHz

I'm just trying to re-encode the Tosh one using settings as similar to the other as I can get them.... will let you know what happens...

Re: Toshiba Product Launch 2009

Yep, that works fine. After re-encoding, it seems to be:

Baseline L1.3
res: 640x360
Audio sampling: 48KHz

Re: Toshiba Product Launch 2009

Well, doing it again at the original res and 44100 audio still works. So maybe it's that "Main" Profile that iTunes objects to sending to the iPhone?

There really isn't much of a procedure to syncing an iPhone. I have downloaded the podcast using the 'Get' button in iTunes.

The Toshiba podcast was downloaded successfully and plays fine in iTunes itself. However when it comes to syncing my iPhone with iTunes I get the following message.

Re: Toshiba Product Launch 2009

I have just tried completely deleting my AV Forums.TV podcast subscription and then adding it back in again and I still get the same error with the Toshiba podcast.

Re: Toshiba Product Launch 2009

Is this going to get sorted out? Surely by now there would be a way of publishing the videos in one universal format that is consistently compatible with all iPod models.

I don't have an iPhone, it works fine with my iPod classic. Stuart is looking at the iPhone issues. All videos are rendered the same within Sony vegas Pro.

Thanks for this Phil. It would seem from the quote below that there is a difference in the encoding used between some podcasts and others.

Another thing I notice is the reflected image of the poster behind Mr Andrew Line in the picture parts that should be dark.

Maybe difficult to judge from this video, how bad it is, but the picture surface seems rather reflective.

Re: Toshiba Product Launch 2009

Hi all,

I'm a new user so forgive me if I have missed a point somewhere.

When I get that message on itunes about not syncing a particular file I right click the item in itunes and get a list up on a pop up box one of which is "create ipod or iphone version".

If this is selected you will see itunes begin to convert the file. An icon pops up on the left hand menu with an orange motif that you can click to see the pogress of the conversion.

Once converted it will then most likely be displayed in your movies folder but may also occasionally appear in TV shows.

The file conversion takes a while depending on file size but can be left running minimized without too much detriment to using your PC.

I hope this helps as I upload lots of items from itunes for whiling away journeys and spare minutes and I often have to convert files to place them on my ipod classic.

regards

Baz

Re: Toshiba Product Launch 2009

Sorry for the bump, but I just saw Phil's post.

Gotta say this line up is looking brilliant. Am already very impressed with Toshiba, already own 2 of their screens (37WLT68 & 37RV555B) and I'm really looking forward to their SV line up.

That Dolby Volume is going to have a few problems I reckon. There's no way it can be 100% spot on when telling the difference between adverts and films/normal tv. Hopefully you'll be able to turn it off.

Dolby volume is great to see.

Great to see AVFORUMS are present in ZUNE Marketplace. ;-) Just subscribed to the podcast and I'll be listening every week now..
