Once again, great stuff. Did you enjoy those cars? It's a tough life suffering for your profession, Phil.

The thing that was missing, of course, how did that 'height' feature sound?

High end models later in the year. Dolby Height sounded good but the room that was used for the demo was not ideal, so I will save any final verdict until I get one in my room.

Re: Onkyo UK budget receiver lineup launch

It's about time av manufacturers included DAB as a standard like they do in the USA with Satellite radio even though it's a subscription service instead of waiting for analogue radio switch off.

The idea of an interface at the back to add DAB is just a way to get extra cash.

There should be a connection to control other media players and not just Apple.

Re: Onkyo UK budget receiver lineup launch

Hi marty,
I do not think DAB is even transmitted in the USA, so why would DAB be fitted to US products?

Re: Onkyo UK budget receiver lineup launch

You didn't read my post correctly.

I meant this:

They include Satellite radio on the USA av-amps market so why can't they include DAB radio for the UK market.

They even have HD radio in the USA and Americans complain when an amp doesn't do HD-Radio.

The only av-amps I've seen with DAB are the expensive Denon avr 4308 and there was a lower end Yamaha av-amp.

I don't know what radio they have in the rest of Europe but since the world is switching off analogue tv it must eventually include radio.

I have DAB radio and I thought I was imagining this the other day:

I had TalkSport on and I heard an advert, think it was for SpecSavers. The first time I've heard an ad' on the BBC.

Re: Onkyo UK budget receiver lineup launch

Personal opinion - you can get all the DAB radio channels (and more) on satellite or cable TV, and most on freeview.

Most UK customers likely to buy one of these Onkyo's will have satellite, cable or freeview.

Re: Onkyo UK budget receiver lineup launch

I know, there's around 200 on $$$ky satellite but that's not the point as it ties up two devices.

DAB should be on UK receivers as standard, it's not a personal pov.

Re: Onkyo UK budget receiver lineup launch

Two manufacturers (Onkyo & Yamaha) have tried DAB on AV Receivers. As I understand it they were not a commercial success and so the feature was dropped.

It seems not enough people share your opinion marty2005
