Well i'll be honest, a Blu-ray/VHS combi was the last thing i thought we'd see.

Obviously they must think there's a market for such a thing.

Indeed there would be if it were a VHS recorder...Then I would have bought one when it became available here, but a VHS player I am not so sure about.

Tapes are still much easier and more convenient to record quickly onto than DVD's, no need to format make space or delete programmes for room etc. And I still heavily use my Panasonic VHS player that I only bought a year ago. Ok, this sort of usefulness might be somewhat negated by Hard Drive recorders and Sky+ and +HD, which I have just had installed but without this convenience VHS is still wonderful for recording to-watch-once stuff. In fact I am seriously considering knocking this Sky+HD lark on the head because of problems Sky cannot seem to fix so my VHS will again take it's old place in the rack. The problem is getting a new one to replace it should it fail!

It's really a pity that this new one from Panasonic is not a VHS Recorder, just a player - I would have loved to have one, especially since I do not yet have a Blu-ray player either. I could have killed two birds with one stone.
