Can I turn it down from 100hz to 50/60?

I have a 32" Sony (Trinitron, wega, bbe digital 100hz - don't know the actual model number because it's on top of some 4ft high shelves and weighs about 80kg so I'm not moving it alone) and I would like to play my old G-Con lightgun games on the PS1 (point blank is awesome) - the 100hz messes things up and makes the game unplayable, I was wondering if it was possible to somehow turn it back down to 50 or 60 hertz.
