Can I save my TV?

Like a complete idiot, I put my speakers on my TV (CRT) yesterday when tidying up, now the colours are all messed up, which I assume is due to the magnets. Can I save my TV or is it time to upgrade to an LCD?

Your help is much appreciated and I will never put speakers near a TV again!

Re: Can I save my TV?

you realy need a degause coil to remove the magnatism, but it can be done with a normal magnet, try turning the set off on the front leave for a few mins and turns back on, the degause coil in the set should remove some of it.

sorry for the spelling! lol

Re: Can I save my TV?

If you simply have colour issues around the edges of your tv then you need to demagnitize it or degauss it , however you will firstly have to obtain a degaussing tool . Another possibility depending on size of the set would be to take it to your nearest engineer who should indeed have such a tool .
mike.....
beat me to it, wish i could bloody type with more than one finger !

Re: Can I save my TV?

Just unplug it from the wall for about an hour and then switch on again. In most cases it will sort itself out.
