Got a PD30 last week. Love the set but when watching the rugby this morning the grass look blocky no matter wether I use 75/100 or 100+.

My dealer says its sky's fault (compressing info). Is this true??

Wouldn't be surprised - when watching cricket and rugby at my Uncle's on Sky last year, there was very little definition in the grass on shots, whereas on analogue you'd have been able to see more detail in the grass.

At the end of the day, it's a sign of too low a bit-rat being used on the channel to reproduce fine detail like the grass properly - especially if you're not seeing this problem from other sources (e.g. terrestrial, DVD, Freeview etc)

uhuhuu....watch out for the "bit-rat", it might be low, but it can still jump up and bite you!!

If your Sky box has S-video I would recommend trying that. Many people (including me) have reported multiple RGB problems with this set. On my DVD (but not Sky+) I can get blockiness/halos via RGb but not via s-video. (Also black crushing and interference.)

The blockiness on the rugby does look like it's ITV broadcasting at low bit-rate. I'm seeing it on my FQ70.
