JVC AV32WP2EK red screen

OK I know this is an old TV, I've had it for going on 10 years now so it may be finally time to change it for an LCD.

However, money is tight (for us all) so if I can keep it going for a bit longer then so much the better.

TV works fine apart from when I first turn it on it sometimes displays a red screen with white horizontal lines. It's starting to do it most mornings now so it's obviously getting worse. Only lasts a few seconds then all is well again untill the next day.

Is it time to retire it?

Driffman,

If it does turn out to be a terminal problem, could I make you an offer for the stand, if original. Specifically the bottom glass shelf and bracket.( Where are you located? )

Apologies for being so mercenary. Mods can remove if against the rules.

Thanks

Gammy

Sorry Gammy but I've never used the stand, not sure what happened to it, think it was thrown when we moved house some years ago.

I have a "Sound Organisation" stand with glass shelves, very nice.

Re: JVC AV32WP2EK red screen

Darn! Well it had to happen, Put TV on today and it's stayed on the red screen. If i turn it off and then back on I briefly get a normal picture but then back to the dreaded red screen.

I've unpluged it and took the back off but even with a service manual (on cd rom from Maurition) I still dont have a clue what to do. I thought maybe I could "tap" something to fix it ha! (I haven't touched anything yet).

Any ideas?

Does the Red Screen remain if you disconnect the aerial and scart leads from the TV?
