JVC HV-32D40 Service Menu Help Required - What do the options allow you to do ?

Hi,

I just purchased a used JVC HV-32D40 pre-owned TV.

I have found how to get into the service menu (press mute & info together at the same time) and was wondering what each of the options are for ?

1. IF
2. V/C
3. AUDIO
4. DEF
5. VSM PRESET
6. STATUS
7. 3DNR
8. IP
9. SHIPPING(OFF)
0. BUS FREE

I'm aware that I shouldn't change anything without writing down any values first.

I see that GaryB is the expert here but any help would be appreciated.

TIA

I've replied to your PM with a few brief details. Beyond that, I would suggest you leave well alone - a few wrong key presses can turn your TV into an expensive doorstop.

Re: JVC HV-32D40 Service Menu Help Required - What do the options allow you to do ?

This thread coming now is ironic - I bought a JVC- HV32P37 over five years ago and I couldn't find anybody here who could or would give verifiable information about how to get into the the service menu. I eventually worked out the way myself from other sources related to other JVC models but even then I still didn't have the vital information about what the menu headings meant and which I should leave well alone.

Somebody here suggested that DEF was likely short for deflection and therefore referred to the geometry and positioning settings - the thing I was interested in. I took the risk and have been happily using this very useful facility (particuarly if you're into video games) ever since.

But still I couldn't find out what several of the other service menu setting heading meant so I left well alone although I've always wanted to tweak the colour balance away from the slightly too yellow warmth the TV has always had.

Just two weeks ago I went looking for that information yet again and googling actually bought up a thread here from 2006. Went through a few pages not expecting anything and then blow me down if there wasn't a post with a). a perfect description about how to enter the service menu and b). a list of what menu item meant. The date on the post was literally just a few days after I'd stopped looking for that information originally.

So for over five years that information has been here undiscovered by me (and others it seems) and now within a few weeks of finally finding it somebody gets a helpful reply to an almost identical enquiry.

I'll see if I can re-find the page and post a link for anyone else looking for similar info:-
