Sony KV-25F1U...Unable to remove CH number from screen

Hi everyone.

Please help somebody..this is driving me bonkers!!

On my Sony KV-25F1U TV I just cannot remove the green channel number from the right hand side of the screen. Think i've accidently knocked one of the buttons on the remote. Tried eveything, but with having no user manual I don't know which one it is. I'm reluctant to press any buttons on the tv itself for fear that i'll mess all the channels up. Would be far easier if I did have the manual, but for the life of me I just CAN'T get hold of one, and i'm certainly not prepared to pay over £14 for a PDF file.

Grateful of ANY replies.

Thanks,

Geoff

Try holding down any "Info" or "i" button for a few seconds; on many sets this toggles the setting from always displayed to just displayed for a few seconds after channel switching.

Check your remote for a small square (looking like a little telly)with a plus symbol inside it.That clears the channel number off the screen. Its normally close to the teletext keys.

No symbol like that on remote. But tried every one of the buttons..with not only a quick press but also kept pressing them for a while.

Cheers.

Do you have the original remote that was supplied with the set...RM862?
If you do there are 2 rows of buttons along the top to control Sony VCRs.
Immediately underneath the Pause button is the i+ button which enables/disables the on-screen display.

JayCee you are an absolute STAR!!!!!!!!!I don't BELIEVE the blastered thing has actually gone, after a fortnight! Yes I have the original remote, but I HAD tried this button MANY times with the all the rest of them. So I continually pressed this one again for a good while and HEY PRESTO!..must have been sticking somewhat before. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH.

Geoff.

Re: Sony KV-25F1U...Unable to remove CH number from screen

I'm glad the mystery is solved (thanks to Jaycee).
When I said "Info" or "i" , I would not have have guessed at "i+" - but I guess I was close.

I do not have the original remote and I tried the things you told Geoff. Nothing works. I have the remote that comes with the pvr.

You need to beg, buy or borrow a TV remote for your model and use the "i+" button on it.
