DOES ANYBODY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS TV. i'M THINKING OF BUYING IT AS PART OF A PACKAGE WITH COMETS. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I guess it's supposed to be the replacement for the 9527. I have seen one and IIRC it has a cheap Panasonic tube (look for the single pixel in halfway down the screen at each side) as opposed to the better picture (but unreliable?) Philips Cybertube of the 9527.

I had a 9527 which, in addition to having the Black Bars problem, died with a blown tube after 11 months.

Either way, I wouldn't buy one (just ordered a PD30 instead).

hi winkle i looked at that package at comet then looked around
the net and found what i think is a better philips the 32pw9618
from robertsons online, ok it has a dvd and vcr not the home
surround sound but the 32pw9618 has better sound with the
tvand 2 cordless speakers, it also has dolby digital and for the
price you are paying at comet you should have better sound
than nicam and at robertsons it is cheaper

The 9618 also has a cheap Panasonic tube though....

Why not read " the help for a newbie" thread where I think you will find there is lots of information from the good people of this forum.

The question I would pose after being part of the thread is why pay £1200 for the T.V? + why a package at Comet?

To illustrate this I have just bought a Phillips 32 PW 6517 for £610 and the Comet price is £800.
My T.V comes with a free 5 year warranty + includes delivery and don`t how much Comet will charge for these items..

However,I really don`t know very much about these matters but the thread is worth a read.
It really tells the story of a person who started knowing sod all to to knowing a little and the information is invaluable especially about getting value as well as info on possible products..

Are you sure that all Philips 32PW9528 has Panasonic tubes?

My Philips 32PW9527 has a Philips Cybertube+.

Before I had a Philips 32PW9617 which had a Panasonic tube, and it's according to me a big difference of the picture between the two tubes, Philips Cybertube+ is of course the best one.

Dunno about all of them - but the one I saw in Comet did

Clearly a cheapo Panasonic tube - dots either side etc. Checked the PD30 today and although (I assume) it's a panasonic tube, it is quite different to the ones Philips use (and also in the older Panasonic sets) - much tighter packed pixels and no dots at the sides.

I think I'll miss the extra "3D" punch of the pixel+ 9527 for a while - but hopefully this one will be better in the long run... (at 36" it's bigger too )
