Post Aconda or Mimo - where to buy?

On the verge of buying one of the above. Awaiting a pricematch from JL, has anyone had any problems with tvandvideodirect?

JL will pricematch tvandvideodirect. It took about 5 days for me to get a letter in the post. Then you just take the letter into a JL store. You will get a 5 year warranty thrown in. Why buy from tvandvideodirect when you can get the same price, 5 year warranty and Saturday delivery from JL.

I've just had a price match from tv and video and while John Lewis (MK) were happy to match the price they did add the delivery charge of £35.

Has this been the experience of other people?

That is usually a standard condition of any pricematch. I actually got House of Fraser to match the JL pricematch. A combination of my sleight of hand and his keenness to actually sell me the set, meant that he missed the final paragraph of the the letter which mentioned the delivery charge. I went to HOF cos i was lead to believe they include accidental damage as part of their warranty. Looking at the small print on my invoice though, i am not so sure.

I actually got House of Fraser to match the JL pricematch

I tried to get HOF (Oxford St) to do a price match yesterday but they wouldn't even though they did for me about 6 or 7 mths ago. Firstly they said that they could only price match within the M25 which i disputed, went to customer services and spoke to the manager and then after phoning for the match they said they couldn't because it wasn't *like for like* as far as the warranties were consurned ie 2yr & 5yr yet they offered me the 1yr term before.... Sorry for the long post

Hi kwangomango,

I'm currently in the process of buying (or at least wanting to!) a Loewe Mimo 32 and saw your post re: price matching at JL - the bit I didn't understand was "It took about 5 days for me to get a letter in the post" - can you explain a bit more as to how you went about the pricematch? i.e. did you write to JL's and received confirmation of a price match via letter?? Then presented this to the store?

Your help would be much appreciated

I recently used JL to price-match via the phone. They refer if to their "Undersales" department who simply comfirm that the goods are in stock, not in a "sale" etc etc and then ok it. They phoned me back within 30 mins to agree the price-match and I received my new FQ70 set three days later.

JL at BC have just refused to pricematch tvandvideodirect but are double checking as i've had a pricematch in the past with the same company. Hopefully they'll come up trumps??

I've read lots of positive remarks regarding tvandvideodirect on this forum.

Stevod, I'm looking at the 28" Mimo, are you happy with it? Did you also buy one of the Mimo racks?

Thanks.

does it have any features like cable hiding?
I think that IR doesn't work either through the cover?

Thanks for everyone's input on price matching at JL's - I'm going to give them a try today for a Mimo 32.

I agree with the Rack One stand - very expensive but you just have to have it!!! There is some form of cable management included in the rack, plus the spec says a main 4 way extension...

Peter Martin website shows this in good detail;

http://www.petermartin.co.uk/loewe/m..._28_32_acc.htm

I'm guessing that the front cover of Rack One will not work with IR but doesn;t the Loewe multimedia kit include a IR transmitter extension? Not sure on price either.

I'm tempted by the VGA upgrade, have read some good info about pushing progressive scan into it from a home PC.

Cheers

IanS

John Lewis Milton Keynes price matched tv and video direct: £1099 for the 32" plus £35 delivery. JLP also price matched the Rack 1 stand saving nearly £100. It is still overpriced IMHO, but I needed some storage and the stand will rotate about 40 degrees which is useful. Remember TV&audio do have a shop and are not only web traders

Very happy with it so far. Didn't buy a rack as one of the reason for choosing the Mimo is that it fitted in a Wood Cabinet I already had , and it is one of the sleekest sets around.
The only annoying thing with the set is that it defaults to 4:3, but I am going to speak to Loewe about this as I believe there is a fix

Thanks for that Stevod. Have to admit I'm strongly thinking of the 28" Mimo for the fact that it's very sleek, not too wide, oh and it comes in black and is a Loewe of course...

I read here on the forums about the Loewes defaulting to 4:3 and it seems there is an option in the service menu to change this. Will be interesting to hear how you get on. Good luck!
