Technology and Benefits
Improved IDSC Pro
This advanced digital scan conversion system allows the TV to accept and display both progressive scan and HD video signals, including 720p. IDSC Pro utilizes line doubling, frame doubling, pixel doubling, and double sampling for the best possible progressive scan images. IDSC Pro creates a single, no compromise, focus point from any signal for a consistently sharper image.
PowerFocus HD Wide CRTs
To optimize the reproduction of HD images, a wider electrostatic focus area is used to create a 20% improvement in focus, while also achieving a 5% improvement in brightness.
CableClear DNR
Designed to optimize poor NTSC signals from antenna or cable, this new video noise reduction system eliminates video noise ("snow") for a clean crisp image.
MegaBand Super Wideband Video Amplifier
This Feature has improved video amplification by 50%, which allows for Significant increases in Video Resolution to Accurately Reproduce HD Video Signals.
SRS WOW
This combination of three signal processing circuits creates a wide three-dimensional sound field from two speakers (SRSÆ 3D), boosts bass frequency perception (TruBass), and raises the sound image vertically to create clearer, more vivid audio (FOCUS).
QuickConnect On-Screen Set-Up Guide
This on-screen set-up guide automatically appears the first time a set is powered up, or it may be accessed through the regular OSD menu. QuickConnect acts as set-up wizard, helping consumers with connection of an antenna or cable box as well as performing initial channel scan, picture preference and other set-up features.
To be honest, most of these are bells and whistles, the important differences are the DVI input, twin component progressive inputs and ability to accept/display 720p signals (Hi-Def). The Hi-Def broadcasting standard has not yet been set in the UK/Europe but the simple addition of a DVI socket would allow UK users to use 720p from suitably equipped scalers/HTPCs/DVD players. The display from such an RPTV would be AWESOME
At the moment, this is but a distant dream

Maybe next year we'll see Toshiba release suitably specced sets in the UK if Euro1080 does indeed start broadcasting HDTV and the newly announced euro HDTV satellite receiver gets released - hope so!
