Loewe: Aconda or Mimo

After a year of battling with a sony set, John Lewis have agreed that I can exchange my set for another brand. I have always been interested in Loewe, and now find myself torn between the Mimo 32" and the Aconda 9281ZW. (I liked the style of the Vitros but JLP no longer stock it, so I guess that it is/will soon be discontinued.)

My question is which should I go for, considering that I haven't succumbed to buying a DVD yet (not sure that I will buy one). I am also restriced by price around £1300, - I have to get a stand too!

A note on style: mimo is quite interesting retro style that will probably date in a couple of years (much like the new VW Beetle!), whereas the Aconda looks to me like a style classic - I haven't seen it in the flesh yet.

Finally, how long has the Aconda been on the market and is it likely to be discontinued in the near future?

Thanks

Tony

I have seen the 32" Mimo and like you believe it to be very stylish. I would suggest that your pocket will make the decision here as the Mimo box stand is an extra £400 and you will need to buy a Loewe DVD player because you will not be able to operate it in the stand when the door is closed (go to JL and see what I mean). Note that Loewe systems are linked so that the TV IR receiver will allow you to control the DVD player.
Other clever people here will I'm sure let you know if any other non-Loewe DVD players are compatible.

If I could afford one, I would buy a Loewe Mimo right now.

I have decided to buy the Mimo and it will be delivered tomorrow. I also decided to throw caution to the wind and bought the stand too!

Just for info I checked with Loewe and the Vitros is not being discontinued - I guess that JLP have decided only to stock selected stock.
