JVC AV-32x37HKE Colour problem

The set is about 6 years old and this morning the picture was flickering slightly with poor colour but eventually improved. Then this afternoon the picture developed a distinct pinky-purple tinge (my own thoughts are that whatever provided the yellow has died). When I switch it off there's a small square rainbow which appears for a brief second

Anyone care to speculate if it's saveable? Won't be able to take it to a repairer for a few days and he wants £20 up front, is he just going to say "it's knackered, buy a new one"? If so, looks like a new TV (LCD probably) and entry in to the 21st Century as an early christmas present

Thanks in advance.
