Sony Wega flashing lights

Hi I hope someone is willing and able to help. If this post is in the wrong place then I apologise. I have a sony wega kd-28dx50u. owned it for about 3 years i think. It went off today while working perfectly well and I have a 2 flash red light error. Anyone know what this is and if its easily repairable. If so with what parts and from where? Many thanks

Re: Sony Wega flashing lights

The flashing light sequence you describe indicates the tv is in "overcurrent protection mode".This usually means there is a short circuit on the B+ supply line. The fault could really be anywhere from the power supply to the line output stage so it is very difficult to correctly diagnose without looking at the set.Because of the nature of the problem it`s difficult to say what parts etc would be required.I would advise an engineer looks at the set for you.

Re: Sony Wega flashing lights

Common... Line output transformer and transistor... possibly feed resistors on the B+ line.

Re: Sony Wega flashing lights

Hi, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately that means very little to me. Is it an easy or cheap repair?

Re: Sony Wega flashing lights

Should not cost anything (or very little) if you look up "sale of goods act" on google.
Large TVs should last at least 5 years, get onto the shop that you bought it from.
