Introducing the Official LG LCD, Plasma and HD TV Owners Forum

Last year we at LG started an Official Sponsored Forum for people interested in LG television and flat panel products - both LCD and Plasma. You can talk about any aspect of LG flat panel TVs, be they LCD or Plasma screen, and whether you're an LG TV owner or thinking about becoming one, on-topic contributions from any member of the community are always welcome. We’re here for the long-term and willing to discuss topics with the community, so please feel free to join in with your views and suggestions.

As part of our ongoing commitment to this community we offer information on all our new HD, LCD and Plasma products and occasionally even exclusive opportunities to attend LG events or find out about them first.

If you are interested in attending future events but don’t live near London, please respond to this poll so we can keep you updated on regional events.

We'd also like to mention we have a blog and a YouTube channel, which have more information about LG products and, if you like, you can follow us on Twitter or join our group on Facebook as well.

So without further ado, why not stop by and say hello?

LG 50PG7000 v LG 50LG7000 please help

Sorry if already answered elsewhere but I can't find it...your help would be really appreciated.

Very keen on either TV but which one? LG site basically shows same specs for both

LCD or Plasma... or is it worth going whole hog to plasma and opting for 60pg7000.

Current Sony 50 inch 3LCD ok in 21 foot room in terms of size (seemed bloody huge 3 years ago) but now want to wall hang the new TV once we decide which to choose. Ideally wish to spend about £1500 but may push it higher.
room could house wall hung 60 inch but still intreagued as to what the difference is between the 7000 series LCD or Plasma...

Thanks all.
Jason

re: Introducing the Official LG LCD, Plasma and HD TV Owners Forum

would just like to say to anybody, especially from ireland thinking of buying an lg plasma,DON'T under any circumstance!!!
had one for 3 years 11 months (RZ42-PX11)and it just died on tuesday, rang customer support and the supervisor (SONNY) LAUGHED at my situation, litertally!!quoted the usual [Word removed by Yemeth - circumventing swear filter] about 12 mth warranty.
I pointed out to him that goods are also legally required to have a decent lifespan, minimum five years for TV'S.
From doing a bit of research it seems it is an extremely common problem,so much so that you can replace the defective part with an upgraded one from ebay.
It seems that if your warranty runs out and your in ireland ,tough!!!
I was given a repair center number to contact in ENGLAND!
The cost to send a 30 kg telly to britain would go a fair way against the price of a replacement TV ,preferably a SONY or SAMSUNG !!!

Its down to personal preference when it comes to LCD and Plasma, you do get a different quality of picture so it is best to go to a retailer and look at them side by side to see which one suits you best.

Plasma TV's are known for their screen burn so for that reason alone it may be best to steer towards the LCD.

Typically you do only get 12 months warranty with the TV unless you purchase an extended warranty through places like currys and their "whatever happens" policy or I believe Richer Sounds do a 5 year warranty too and Richer Sounds offer very good customer service.

From the comment that Ben101 made about the life span of the product I believe he is referring to the sales of goods act which I believe states that an electrical appliance in the UK should be fit for purpose for up to 6 years (dont quote me on that, I'm not legally trained).

You have the manufacturers warranty for the first year and then the responsibility goes back to the retailer which is where the money exchanged hands and the sales contract was set.

Sadly all too often the retailer wont step up to the plate and accept responsibility without you providing an engineers report (at your cost) to prove the TV isnt faulty from accidental damage or general wear and tear.

Although it's extra money its always recommended to pay for the extended warranty policy.
