Right what I would do is connect as follows

Dvd using Component cable for best picture / Optical cable
Sky using the 1st RGB using Gold scart lead
Ps2 using the 2nd RGB as has two sockets that take RGB
Vcr using non RGB socket

Also RGB is much better than SVideo , and the Optical cable from the back of the Dvd player to the connection on the back of the Tv that's if you don't use and Amp

I hope this helps

Yes the Component cable is the same as the Phono leads
Also the Tv will have 2 Digital feeds , but they will not both be
Optical , one will be Coaxial
But you should be able to connect both Dvd & Ps2 using them

I hope this helps

Hi

Thanks for the answer - came on to ask exactly the same thing. Just for clarification, do you mean that an optical cable is superior to component for the DVD if not using an external amp?

Thanks

The optical cable will be for transmitting digital audio from the DVD player. The component video cable will transmit the picture (no sound).
Hope this helps.

That's correct
The Component does just the Picture No Sound , and the
Optical just does the Sound

Forgive me for being a total noob but i thought the red and white lead was audio and the yellow was video, so do i just use the yellow lead and an optical for sound?

The yellow video lead carries only a "Composite" signal. This is the lowest quality video signal. Red and White carry a seperate left and right stereo signal.
To get the best picture out of the tv use either a component video cable or an RGB capable Scart cable - neither of which come with the set. The component cable will not transmit any sound and is arguably the better of the two. The Scart cable will carry stereo sound aswell as picture.
To get a Dolby Digital 5.1 signal out of the DVD player and into the tv, you need to connect either an optical(fibre optic) digital cable(sold seperately) or a coaxial digital cable. To get started you could just use either the Red, Yellow Or White cable as a coaxial digital cable - if your DVD player has a coaxial output. You maybe better off purchasing a proper higher quality coaxial cable but that is another discussion altogether
Basically component video, coaxial digital and the three cables you have are all phono cables, it's just that have differing electrical characteristics which make them(arguably ) better for there specific tasks.

I'd like to order the same package as you have.. Did the order go OK? Digital Point are quite local to me so I might use them, were they reliable?
