sony sound problem

hi

bit of a long shot but am hoping for some help.

i have an old sony 32ds20 crt tv that i have given to my mother as i have upgraded my tv. it has sat in the back of my car all week and i finally took it round the other day.
when i plugged it in it all worked perfectly for a few minutes and then the sound went off. the picture is perfect but no sound at all now from the internal or the external speakers, but funnily enough the sound still works through the headphone socket.

any ideas what it may be or if i will be able to fix it myself?

thanks

Re: sony sound problem

Not familiar with your particular Sony, but in a lot of tv's the sound to the speakers is fed through the headphone socket so that plugging in headphones mutes the speakers.

If this is the case, plugging the headphones in and out a few times might clear the problem.

Otherwise the headphone socket might need replacing.

Good luck.
