Sony monitor problem

I've just bought a second-hand Sony GDM-W900 24" CRT computer monitor and it's great apart from 3 very thin lines (red, green and blue) which run at about a 4 degree angle downwards from right to left then continue horizontally from left to right (but much fainter), in the bottom third of the screen. They are there at all resolutions and I have tried adjusting every setting in the menu to no avail.
I know about the damper wires but I've seen those. These are about the same thickness but at a slight angle and coloured. I found out how to do a monitor self-test (with no leads) and the lines are there. With no input they flicker up and down the screen so it's nothing to do with the input but a monitor fault unfortunately. I've also tried tapping the screen, degaussing etc.
Is there any hope?

Re: Sony monitor problem

It's possibly a fault in the video processing stages (which would require technical fault-finding skills as well as a circuit/service manual) to repair or the screen (A1) control is needing turned down slightly.
This involves removing the back cover and if the construction is up to Sonys usual high standards there will be an aluminium screening cage to remove (or part of it) before you can access the A1 control which is usually (but not always in Sony TVs/Monitors) part of the high voltage or FBT (Flyback transformer...as our American cousins label it).

Re: Sony monitor problem

I've posted this query on a few other forums. Are these 'retrace lines'? Someone else suggested that Win DAS software may be able to fix the problem and that it may be a G2 adjustment. There is a socket resembling an s-video socket at the rear of the monitor marked 'Service'. I wonder if this is for Win DAS and whether or not I can get a cable for it. I suppose I would also need a service manual. This could get complicated.....

Yes...or Flyback lines.

That's what it's for...the software isn't generally available.
Bear in mind it may be a hardware fault also.
