Firstly I will admit to not knowing a great deal about AV set ups.

I have just taken delivery of a (buzzing) 32FX66.

Connected to it I have a DVPNS305 DVD and a PACE Sky box. Both connected using Scarts using RGB setting.

Also the Terrestrial TV connects via Sky box and Video to the CoAx socket.

The question I have is this

When watching terrestrial TV I set the volume at my prefferred level. I then switch to AV (either sky or DVD) and the sound is a lot quieter, so I up the volume. I then switch back to terrestrial TV via CoAx and I get deafened.

Should the sound level differ between sources, or am I just a bit simple and have not set it up right.

As Always any advice greatly appreciated.

PS hopefull the buzzing will be fixed when engineer calls today

Set your sky box default volume higher, not sure what you can do about the dvd though.

Well the engineers been and I'm not happy .

As soon as he turned the set on he heard the buzzing and agreed it was not acceptable.

The options were

Ring JL for a replacement
or
He could arrange to take it away to be fixed.

He said the fault was scan coils that needed adjusting or replacing.

I have spoke to JL to request a replacement and the lady I spoke to said that she advised I went in to choose another make/model she could almost garantee a replacement would be the same.

I am going to request a replacement and then take it from there.

Going to start the thought process off about a new make/model.

Can anyone recommend any other sets.

I think I will also give sony a ring and moan at them and give them the .

i'm sure i've read other people have had that part replaced by the engineer onsite

I read that , but the engineer wouldn't even go down that route when I asked him

He said he would take it away but it would take 2 weeks.

Not on with a new telly so Im going for the replacement

I presume you're listening through the TV? If so, it's completely normal.

But you should have an 'Auto Volume' option in your TV's menus, that you can turn on. This will try to even out volumes, but it also has the side effect of turning the volume down whenever you get big explosions etc, thus limiting the impact (the same effects are caused by turning on the Audio DRC in your Sony 305's setup menus).
