[FSSAHM]

Picked up this TV from Freecycle. It had a very nice picture with no problems until a week later when it suddenly switched itself off - screen went black and standby light flickers red/green.

Now if I try and switch it on I just get black screen and standby light flicker red/green (maybe amber in there as well - not sure happens too quick).


Any idea what the problem is and how much too fix ? Called an engineer but he has not called back. Wanted to know if it was worth fixing.

It's probably a short circuit capacitor...cheap to repair...or...the same symptoms can be caused by a faulty line output transformer...expensive.
You'll not know until an engineer has had a look.
