Please Help: Sony KV32FQ86 LED flashing 16 times

When booted up, the TV screen is blank, but there is sound for around 2-3 seconds, when suddenly the TV switches off again. The standby LED then flashes 16 times between pauses. I'd really appreciate it if somebody could indicate where the problem may lie.

My brother in law had the same problem with the same set, funnilly enough. I don't know what the flashing LED mean's, and I don't think his was flashing as many time's. But the problem just turned out to be a bit of dry solder on the board, and was fixed in no time, for forty pounds by the local Tv repair man.

My advice would be to get it looked at by an tv repair shop. They will have the document's for this tv if they are an authorised Sony repair centre/dealer, and that way, you will know straight away whether it is worth getting fixed ot not.

It's a nice CRt set, and worth getting fixed if it is cheap enough. I was always impressed with the picture of this model, and thought the 100HZ technology in it was good.

The most common failure giving those symptoms in this AE6B chassis is an IC.
Typical cost inc labour is roughly around £60-£100.00
It is unlikely to be a dry joint on this chassis.

First off, thanks for all your responses. But I tried turning on the TV this morning, and to my pleasure, it was working again. No damn flashing LEDs. Quite bizarre really. I did have a party the night before the TV got crippled, and had the TV music channels on full blast, so the vibrations MAY have caused short-term circuit damage or something. Does this mean loud volumes could be a bad idea in the future?
