'Granada' C51 FZ4 tuning

I wish to temporarily use this old Granada-badged set (maybe Finlandia?) but cannot remember the button press sequence to store channels. Buttons on the set are arranged in two horizontal rows of four and the stick-on decal explaining each button has long gone.

Top row, from left - 1, Channel+ ... 2, ? ... 3, Tuning+ ... 4, ?
2nd row, from left - 5, Channel- ... 6, ? ... 7, Tuning- ... 8, ?

I'm sure it's something like release tuning, press x, press y, press x but I can't fathom out where x and y should be. The (genuine) remote does have a store button which doesn't. It is an ex-hotel set so there may be a tuning lock but I thought I'd tuned it successfully some years ago. Anyone out there with an excellent memory?

It uses a Salora chassis...although not sure which one.
Hotel mode usually prevents access to tuning...it doesn't usually prevent channel storing.
There is a common fault with the Salora "J" series which causes no tuning store so as long as the store button on the remote is working...it may be the set is faulty.

Re: 'Granada' C52 FZ4 tuning

On my Salora K (28K77 - yes it's still working almost 20 years later!), the button layout is as follows:

Upper row: Left to Right:
1). Channel + 2). Normalisation (PP) 3). Fine tuning + 4). Vol +
Lower row: Left to Right:
5). Channel - 6). Memory 7). Fine tuning - 8). Vol -

When you fine tune + or - you should be able to store the channel by pressing the Memory button.
On my remote the memory button is shown as an arrow pointing at an M. A bit like >M. You have to push the P button (programming mode), followed by the automatic channel search button which is right beside the >M key, shown as an arrow pointing towards a dot with a ring round it. The set should then go into channel search mode.
Of course it could be a bit different on your version, but the method should be the same. If it fails to store the channels it could be caused by dry joints along the control board connector(s), it is quite common with the Salora chassis (dry joints).

Re: 'Granada' C52 FZ4 tuning

Thanks guys. On the set, when pressing the M (memory button, I am obliged to NST for the map) the channel indicator flashes slowly then quickly but fails to store the channel. I've also noticed the volume buttons on the set don't do anything, but the channel + and - do their job.

There are no programming-mode buttons on the remote except the Store button - this makes the channel indicator flash as above but that's all.

I guess I'm heading for the tip tomorrow
