Red face Sony KV-X2962L picture problem

I have a Sony KV-X2962L CRT TV which is about 14 years old, but still has a great picture.

The picture disappears from time to time. Sometimes the screen is blank and sometimes it briefly has a bright green screen. After a few seconds the picture returns and it is OK for a long time.

It looks as if it is starting to go on the blink.

Do these symptoms sound like a failing tube and a repair which is beyond economic? Or might it be dried out joints which resoldering would fix?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

It could be either...my gut feeling is that it's an intermittent short in the crt.

If you still have sound when pic goes off then your tube maybe weakenig, you can try to use a tube restorer, it also could be cold solders, bad connections use your solder tool and tuch up all around the power supply.hope this help.
