Remote Help

Hi today i pluged my mums
matsui freeview box into here phillips 32pw9576/05e

The problem is that when i try to use the phillips tv remote control to turn the volume up or down it changes the channel's on the freeview box, Can anyone help me. I have looked at the phillips website but can't see anything there to help me.. Thanks nick
