Question to Trinitron owners

Just about the best purchase i ever made was my 32inch Sony Wega KV-32DX30U.
Looking to buy another for a family member as there are lots of CRT tvs being practically given away by people who prefer to watch TV on glorified computer monitors.

My question is,is there are any other model which will internally switch Freeview to RGB. There is a dialogue called digital set up which allows Freeview in RGB or composite. Im not talking scart input now i mean internally.
Apparently the KD32FX68 doesnt do this nor even the fancy 100Hz ones according to the manuals.
Can any of you Sony owners out there put me straight as the picture difference is amazing.

Certainly all of the Sony 50Hz Freeview tuner sets I've seen allow for internal RGB connection between their Freeview receiver and the display. They also have the benefit of no 100Hz processing... Not sure if there is a menu set-up for this - think it may just be how the set is wired. My dad's 32DX (not sure of final model number) was RGB in Freeview I know - there were no nasty composite artefacts when watching DTT.

Hi Stephen I suspect your father has a DX 30 as my neighbours KD-32DX40 is not capable of RGB Freeview. At least if it is, it defeated 3 of us geeks activating it!

Small warning for you. I bought "as new" or "graded" or whatever a KV32FQ86U which went belly up a couple of weeks after setting up (in the last few months). On getting a replacement model (definitely not the same as the original one) just the same thing happened. I was an extremely happy devotee of the trinitron set for many, many years -- my mum had an early one with lasted 20 years, i.e. until remotes came in, and was still functioning when it was junked.

However, these Wega ones seem much more sensitive and tricksy. I am getting one more replacement shortly, a KV32FX68 now, but this is the last time. I will be going flat-screen most reluctantly if the new one pegs out too. I suspect these Wega models have fundamentally less reliability although am happy to be contradicted by those who actually know for sure.

Im not sure but have all these sets been 100 Hz? These have been intrinsically less reliable from the start.

Yes, the KV prefix with FQ and FX certainly are 100Hz, so I suspect all the Wega wide TVs are, though I don't know for sure.

Does 100 Hz put more strain on the circuitry or something?
