toshiba 40WH08B Vs new 42" tosh

i am considering buying a toshiba 40WH08B for £675. I think this is a great price for a 40tosh set but am wondering about the difference between this set and the new 42" and whether the new ones are worth the extra dosh.

i have seen a new 42" for £999 so thats £300 for the extra 2" and years warrenty but is the picture much better.

i remember a while back that rear projection TVs were quite terrible compared with direct view CRT but i am talking about 4/5 years back.

I know that the new generation of tosh rear proj. are very good and almost upto the quality of a CRT butwhat are these slightly older versions like in comparison.

whatever i do get i will be using it with a toshiba SD200E through either RGB or component and sitting about 9' away.
