Toshiba t.v picture looks a bit green sometimes, can anyone help please?

Hello all, thanks for taking the time to read this,

I have an old(ish) Toshiba 3373DG 4:3 ratio television which seems to have a problem.

When I play some dvds from an American Pioneer DV-606D player using it's s-video output into the s-video input on the t.v. I get a very green picture from a few films but not all, but even with the film's that are mostly ok, I still find that the darker scenes have a bit of a green tinge about them. At first I thought this was a problem with the dvd player as the t.v did not seem to have this problem with any other inputs e.g. satalite or video but having since tried the player on a friends t.v (which had no problem) I now know that this is probably not the case. The Toshiba t.v supports both 443 and 358 versions of ntsc and I have tried several s-video leads, all with the same problem....

I'm out of idea's folks, can anybody think of anything else?

Thanks in advance,
Iain

I am not sure, but it could be something to do with the GAMMA. Some tvs have gamma-correction, which is used to cure NTSC problems such as green or purple images.

I am not a pro, but I think I could be right.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply Kingstonly,

There is no "gamma" adjustment in any of the regular menus, there could be one in the service menu but to be honest I'm scared of touching anything in that menu as I'm not a pro either, even then, I wouldn't know which one to adjust as they are all abreaviated (spelling? )

Could someone else possibly comment on a GAMMA adjustment for this problem or anyone who has knowledge of Toshiba service menus that could tell me which one to adjust!!!...

Thanks again Kingstonly,

Iain.

Iain, forget about what I said about the Gamma. I am fairly sure it is the HUE, your tv may have an adjustment on one of the menu`s. Adjusting the hue can help cure colour problems with NTSC signals, the usual problem is a green or purple tinge to the picture.

Hope I have helped.

Cheers!
