Decision time, plasma or CRT?

Ok, I very nearly bought the 42" panny plasma, but now i'm thinking about the 36" tosh and panny CRT's. Help me decide. Here's a few pointers to clarify my position.

If I buy a plasma it won't be hung on the wall but instead will be on a stand, so the flatness is less of an issue.

I don't watch ANY sports so the problems with digital correction (or whatever it's called) on footie makes no odds to me.

Sound is unimportant as i have a seperate system.

Picture quality is of maximum importance.

My main priority is DVD and videogames. TV comes after both of these as I hardly watch it. Both my DVD player and Xbox have progressive scan. My Gamecube has an RGB scart.

Although I can afford the Panny, the extra expense (roughly £1,500 above CRT) is getting harder and harder for me to justify. Is the picture quality THAT much better than a 100hz CRT with prog scan? or is it just the screen size and space saving that really appeals?

Basically, what would you go for in my position?

even though 2:35 movies and video games are gonna be it's main purpose?

Is the difference between 36" and 43" really that pronounced? I'm gonna have a look around town tomorrow but would appreciate the opinions of those who have already taken the plunge.

not many 32inch crt are 32inch same for every size
with the plasma they are the size it says
(dont fight it you know what you want)

if you go by reading the threads on the forum there are not many if any plasma owners that would change .
if you read the crt`s threads there seems to be quite alot of change?

maybe coz there is more crt`s "dont want to start a flame war" its only my views"

No, you're right, i would really like a plasma, but then i'd really like an aston martin too.

What I mean is, if saving space and watching telly aren't an issue, is it really justifiable over a 36" (not 32") CRT. I could upgrade my entire home cinema kit with that extra £1,500 or I could spend it on an extra 7" of screen. Does that put it into more perspective?

I would personally go for the plasma.

To be honest, I dont think this is something any of us can help out on. Its so much easier to decide what to do with someone else's money than it is with your own. Basically, whatever is said may not make the decision any easier...
