Toshiba 32ZT29B Help Needed

Hi

When I turned on my TV in the EPG there was no digital station. When I selected a terrestrial station after a few minutes, the picture switched to a blue screen and then it jumped back to show the station I was watching again.

The next time I turned the TV on, the digital stations where showing in the EPG. When I selected one of these stations the same thing happen again; jumping to a blue screen and then jumping back to the station again. However this time load of wavy lines also appeared going down my screen.

I have spoken to my local TV repair man, who I think was just guessing what the problem was; he also seemed reluctant to come out! When I first spoke to him he said about removing the teletext part. Then, when I spoke to him again he thought it was the Freeview module. I also to another TV repair person who said that a common problem with this model was the DFS module.

I would be grateful if someone could give me some advice; I don't really want to pay out over £200 on something which might not resolve my problem!

Many thanks

It could be either module causing those symptoms...but before you go any further go into the setup/tuning menu and re-scan the digital channels picking "First time installation" in case the DVB setup has been corrupted.
It it does turnout the DFS Module is at fault Toshiba will supply a free replacement module leaving you the engineers labour to pay which will be a lot less than £200
Have a read through of this thread...and also this one...all the info and contact details are there.
Good luck.

Thanks for replying. Tried to go to the set up menu, but when I turned on the tv on first of all, it only showed terrestrial stations. There was no digital signal being received. The remote control does not work, even after replacing the batteries with new ones. Tried to go to the set up menu using the side buttons on tv, but was only able to access the picture and sound menus. After playing with the side buttons, was able to receive digital and analogue stations, however the remote control was still not working. Think I need to call a tv repair man out to have a look!
