Sony KV-28FX20U - Is it on its last legs?

Hi!

I have the above TV and the picture keeps going a kind of green colour and then will lose it all together. The next day will be ok and then go again. Has been like this for a few months now. Thought it could be the picture in connections but have had these all checked so pretty sure it is the tv. Sound is all ok.

Tonight, the standby led on the set started flashing and according to the manual, I should be taking it to a Sony Service Centre.

I am guessing that it is going to cost a bit to take it to Sony so would welcome any ideas on what might be wrong with it and also if it needs a repair, how much I looking at giving them!

I have had it over 7 years but I don't want it to die!

Thanks for your help, Crackerdaq

Your symptoms could be a failing crt with an intermittent short but you really need to get it looked at by an experienced TV engineer for a definitive answer.

Thanks - knowing nothing about repairs, is this something that is going to cost a fortune or is it relatively minor? Don't want to waste money when I could put it towards a new one.

Thanks again, Crackerdaq

If it is a faulty crt...it'll be a write-off.
