my panny 28pl1 is going for repair next week because of interference on screen when using the front AV sockets. i also want them to stop the ghosting/bleed from the aerial socket in to the scart signal.

right, what i want to know is, is it worth it?

you can only see the faults in certain specific pictures/conditions and in all likelyhood they will say they could SEE no problem and send it back.

can the ghosting/bleed fault even be fixed or is it a by product of the manufacturing process that CAN'T be fixed?

if they can't/won't even fix the thing is it worth me sending the thing off?

any engineers out there who can tell me if these faults are fixable?

Yes the problems you describe should be corrected to your satisfaction.
If your tv is under warranty you may wish to seek a " swap-out " replacement.

Have you checked your cables and connections too ?

i've only had it 6 weeks. what is a 'swap-out' replacement?

the thing is i'm sure the comet engineers will say they couldn't SEE the problem so there is NO problem. how do i get them do see a problem that has to be correctly identified under certain conditions, when i'm not there to show them?

Engineer's will mostly agree a set is faulty without hesitation.
They are delighted if a customer insists on a replacement as it is less hassle for them.
You are definitely entitled to ask for a replacement, as your set is only six weeks old, don't accept a repair unless you are happy to do so.
A " swap-out " is a term to describe exchanging faulty items, it's often how mail order dealers solve the problem of having no local service assistance. They simply ask customers to send it back for a new one.

Having said all that, an engineer may resolve your problem by setting up and cabling attention.
