Wall mounting a 28" CRT, are there brackets available?

I've made a quick search of Argos and they only have brackets for up to 21" CRTs but I am giving a friend my old 28" and they are talking about wall mounting it so I wondered if anyone knew whether you can get wall brackets or will it just be a case of putting up a shelf? TV weighs 33kg.

I am not sure, I have purchased a model called Uni lock Vision and that one is for a 21" but can carry up to 45 Kgs. I would say that you can use a 21 inch bracket as long as it is strong enought to hold the weight, you have to have the TV hanging slightly from each side, imho this won't make it look bad at all.

Re: Wall mounting a 28" CRT, are there brackets available?

Thanks for the suggestion. I did wonder about the weight thing as the TV is 33kg and I've seen 21" mounts with 40kg weight limits. I've also found a Hama wall mount for a 25" TV which might do the trick but only seems to be available in Germany. Haropa in the US do a 27" mount but haven't found any retailers here who sell it. I did find another US site with mounts that cater to really massive TVs but I'd expect shipping to be prohibitive.

Just found the Haropa UK site and they jhave a 28" model, MV3. Will try and find a stockist for that.

Your best bet is probably Homebase or B&Q or a specialist hardware store. The weight isn't really that much and you should be able to find brackets and bolts that will support a shelf of the necessary size.

You might be best finding a specialist store 'cos some of the muppets in the DIY sheds would have a problem telling you the right time, never mind giving advice

It's not just the brackets to think about.

Make sure the wall is strong enough!
