Help - Samsung WS32Z419D power on fault.

I have a got hold of a cheap Samsung WS32Z419D that has been damaged and am looking to get it repaired. The problem is that when powered on from standby there is a fairly loud scratchy sound for about 2 seconds then the tv powers off.
The tv looks as if it has been damaged in transit as there is some minor cracking to the case..
Does anyone know what the power on fault might be?

The TV starts up discovers a fault and the "scratchy sound" is the set tripping off.
As you suspect the set has been damaged in transit it is impossible to give an accurate diagnosis without inspection...it could be minor...a break in the circuit board...a dislodged high voltage transformer lead or it could be major...a broken crt neck.
You have no alternative other than get it looked at by a competent TV engineer.

Thanks for the reply - i will get it checked out this week by the local tv repair shop. Was just checking it wasn't a known fault with a simple fix.

Hi Andy

WElcome to the forums and congratulations on your purchase, the Samsung is a nice tv with a little tweaking.

The problem, is probably just a damaged circuit board. Was the Tv bought new, by that I mean, could you not just get the reciept from where you bought it, and then say it was dmaged during transit, and the company does not warranty the tv, and then call Samsung and execute your warranty with them. That could potenially save you a fortune.

Just a thought, as I done this with a trintron before that got damaged in transit,( nudege, nudge, wink, wink, lol )
and Sony fixed the tube, and replaced the casing. All I had to do was present them with the receipt from where I bought it, and no one else had done the warranty, so the serial number was clean.

Re: Help - Samsung WS32Z419D power on fault.

I got the tv from a local warehouse which deals in shop soiled white goods but had to take a pallet of damaged lcds as part of one of their deals. The samsung was the only crt and the only tv with minor case damage and it's screen intact so i thought it was worth a try for £25.
So unfortunately no receipt but i did get the manual and remote thrown in!
