Hey guys, I'm considering buying the WS32Z429TQ here from Comet in the UK. I've heard some negative stuff about the 09 and the 19....but I'm interested in the 29...Does anyone know if the newer model (which I presume this is) has had its problems fixed i.e. the geometry issues and blurs?

If anyone has one of the .29 versions, could you please let me know. It would be very useful to me and I'm sure there are many others who would like to know the same thing.

The roblems you describe are still present on these slimfit screen's, but they are not as bad as they should be, the problem being the poor condition Samsung let them fly out the factory at.Once you have tweaked even the worst of them, they get good result's but nearly always will have some geometry problem, it's just the curse of these early slimfit tube's. There is a new one coming out in American which fixes the problem's by digitally altering the picture to become straight, and increasing the brightness in the corners of the picture, where the beam is at maximum deflection, thus curing the darkness which causes the blurring in the corner's.

What Samsung are doing is replacing the Micronas processor, which is curently used, with a PixelWorks processorn that is more compatible and stable with the Vixlim tubes used on the SlimFit sets.

It think they initially used the Micronas processor because it's used in their LCD sets and it can also be used to drive CRT's as well and it keeps production costs down. Unfortunately that decision appears to have turned round a bitten them.

I doubt if we will see the newer models for a while because the older Slimfit models were available in the USA at least 18 months before they turned up here. I've noticed the new SlimFits are now available in the USA. The top model has 2 component and 2 HDMI inputs. It would be nice if we had a similar spec over here if and when.
