Toshiba 36ZP46/48 ..anyone notice this?

It might just be my set but..

the 3 picture settings as I understand it contain various levels of SVM..mode 1 is high..mode 2 is medium..and mode 3 has very little SVM.

I usually use 3 and adjust to suit.

What I have noticed is ..if you start adjusting on setting 2 and set the contrast to 49 it appears to reduce the SVM effect...if you change from 50 to 49 and back again you can see the edge enhancement go on and off..use sky news where there are plenty of edges within the headlines.

Anyone else have this...is it knocking the SVM off do you think or is it just a glitch with my set?

do you think it is knocking the SVM off when below contrast 50 on setting 2..it looks like it to me.

what mode do you use when setting your picture?

It looks like it to me, to be honest I cant remember what mode my tele was in when I set it up, was ages ago, but I think it was Mode 2.

Some one on this forum posted his settings for his 32zp48 which I tried on mine and it looked lovely, so I have left it at that, also set my parents 32zp38 to the same!

Re: Toshiba 36ZP46/48 ..anyone notice this?

if your settings were started from mode 2 when you change the contrast from 50 to 49 you should see the change, it doesn't change in mode 1 or 3.

it's a strange way of disabling SVM, surprised no one else has noticed this as this seems to be a model lots of forum users have.

i set mine up from the DVE disc using mode 3

contrast 55
brightness 68
colour 45
sharpness 0
black stretch off

In that case mine were set using mode 2! My settings are:-

Contrast - 61
Brightness - 43
Colour - 42
Tint - 0
Sharpness - -15
Scan - Natural
DNR - Auto
Black Stetch - On
Colour Temp - Normal

Will give your settings a whirl later to see what it looks like.
