Toshiba 2987db 68cm Screen - Stuck in Standby

Can anyone help? - I've owned my Tosh for about 6 years and have been more than happy with its picture quality and sound

Here's the rub! - Whilst watching a re-run of Question of Sport, the TV switched itself off and I can't get it to come on again! The red standby light is illuminated, and the green LED timer indicator flashes. Please note that there were no picture quality problems before it shut off and no indication that any other functions were faulty.

On trawling the Internet, it seems that the tv has gone into some protection mode? Does anyone know of any common faults with this model and what maybe wrong with it, and most importantly, is it worth repairing?

Failure of the crt is very common on this model and can be the cause of the set going in to protection...it could also be something else but to be sure you would need to call in an experienced TV engineer and get it looked at.
