Hi,

I have been given a 32 inch Philips CRT TV it's about 2 and a half years old. I has this annoying feature that automatically picks what picture type it is going to show the program in (i.e super zoom, 4:3, movie expand, 16:9, widescreen etc).

Some of these picture types are too big for the screen i.e you watch football it puts the score off the top of the screen and the substitutions off the bottom of the screen.

Does anyone know why it does this? Can I adjust the picture size and/or lock the automaci picture change so that it sticks to one suitable size?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like it's got the "Auto Format" option switched on. I've got rid of my Philips set so I can't quite remember whereabouts the option is.

Try looking in either the Installation menu or the Setup menu, it's called Auto Format switch it off then go to one of the TV channels and manually set the aspect ratio you want and this will be the default the TV will use.
